RomanPunks is deploying an ERC-721 smart contract on BASE, which will see the 1,000 piece OG collection mint on the Ethereum layer2 blockchain.

About RomanPunks
RomanPunks is a retro futuristic, cyberpunk-derivative worldbuilding project inspired by ancient history and the Cryptopunk culture and aesthetic.
Founded by a history buff and woman artist passionate about pixel art, science fiction and video games, RomanPunks has been a pre-BAYC staple in the NFT space since April 2021, continuously building collections on Ethereum and WAX with experiences and assets on The Sandbox metaverse.
RomanPunks is a labour of love, a life long passion project for its founders, demonstrated by the consistent content and community building over the past 3+ years. Our goal is to develop board games, simple video games and comics and long term to have IP licensed for use in an MMORPG game, cartoons and feature films.
Reasons for ‘Migration’
Back in early 2021, not a lot was understood about how smart contracts work. When OpenSea released their ‘lazy minting’ function, a massive influx of projects popped up, helping to kickstart the bull run. Many NFT projects, like RomanPunks, also minted in this way, including Picasso Punks, which reached 1,873 ETH sales volume! As web3 neophants, little did we know that our NFTs were not decentralized, and were in fact ERC-1155, forever tied to the “OpenSea Shared Storefront”, meaning we have no power to edit the metadata, integrate with dApps, and expand our collections to new emerging marketplaces like Blur, LooksRare and MagicEden.
Many projects that started this way have ceased building, but others forged on by migrating their collections to an ERC-721 smart-contract. Examples include Bears Deluxe, Fast Food Punks, Bitz Club, and others.

RomanPunks get BASED!
667 of the total 1000 RomanPunk OG Genesis pieces on the old OpenSea lazy minting contract were minted. As a result, those 667 NFTs will essentially have an on-chain duplicate — the original ERC-1155 token on the OpenSea Shared Storefront and the new ERC-721 BASE token. The other 333 will be one of a kind.
The 333 RomanPunks mintable on Base will be minted at random, so you’ll have an equal chance to get a basic common pleb as you would an emperor or a goddess!

What to do as a holder of an OG RomanPunk
Once the initial 333 mints out, the remaining 667 Base RomanPunk NFTs will be airdropped directly to the wallet holding the OG OpenSea RomanPunk NFT. So, just sit back and wait to receive your airdrop.
